The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, which is set to become a leading regulator of crypto markets, has named some of the crypto sector’s most prominent executives. Members of its newly established Innovation Advisory CommitteeIncluding the CEOs of Coinbase, Ripple, Robinhood and Uniswap Labs.
The 35-member committee will guide the U.S. derivatives regulator on the needs of firms at the center of financial innovation, and to fill some of its numbers, the agency retooled the former CEO Council established late last year before the arrival of CFTC Chairman Mike Selig.
“By bringing together participants from every corner of the market, the IAC will be a great asset to the Commission as we work to modernize our regulations for today’s and tomorrow’s innovations,” Selig said in a statement.
While the first group already included members like Gemini CEO Tyler Winklevoss, Kraken co-CEO Arjun Sethi and Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan, the larger committee has added several more crypto CEOs and top executives from FanDevil and DraftKings. Additionally, advisors will include leaders from many traditional companies and organizations, such as the chief executives of Nasdaq, CME Group, Cboe Global Markets, the Futures Industry Association (FIA) and the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA).
Among the 35 other new names are Chris Dixon of a16z Crypto, Anatoly Yakovenko of Solana Labs, Peter Mintzberg of Grayscale, Sergei Nazarov of Chainlink Labs and Alana Pamido of Paradigm. CoinDesk’s parent company Bullish CEO Tom Farley is also a member.
Selig recently announced a crypto agenda his agency is working on with the Securities and Exchange Commission, which has formally joined the SEC’s Project Crypto.
