Wyze’s new smart scale can break down your body composition for less than

Seven months after introducing its $119.98 Ultra Body Scan smart scale, Wise today announced a cheaper $79.98 alternative that makes a few compromises to shave $40 off the price. There’s no Wi-Fi, but you can sync body scan measurements with Apple Health and Google Fit by connecting to the Wise mobile app over Bluetooth. And instead of a custom LCD screen, the new scale uses a simple 4.7-inch LED display to show your health stats. But the new WiseScale Body Scan still features a retractable tethered handle with four additional electrodes to provide a more detailed breakdown of health measurements for your legs, arms and torso.

The Wise Scale Body Scan includes a total of eight electrodes. The other four are located in the base, which is covered with a conductive glass surface so you don’t have to place your feet exactly on the scale to get an accurate measurement. When used with the handle, BodyScan can determine how muscle and fat are distributed in your body while measuring other metrics, including body weight and BMI, protein and water levels, bone mass, visceral and subcutaneous fat, and muscle mass.

Wise claims its new scale can automatically recognize and track metrics for up to eight different people, and it can take one-way measurements for an unlimited number of visitors. While Wise’s mobile app doesn’t require you to use a scale or track metrics and trends over time, it does allow you to export a PDF report of your body composition to share with a doctor or personal trainer.
