T1 Phone PR firm is ‘not assisting Trump Mobile any further’

If you’ve been following my reporting on the Trump phone, you’ll know that Trump Mobile doesn’t exactly have open lines of communication with the media. That doesn’t appear to be changing, as the company is no longer working with its longtime media relations firm.

Poplar Group Trump has been representing Mobile since at least last June, when Chris Walker, the company’s founding partner, issued a statement. USA Todayinsisting at the time that “T1 phones are proudly made in America.” This, of course, is not true, which even Trump Mobile now admits.

I have spoken to Walker a few times, and he offered to expedite delivery. the edgeTwo T1 phone orders from, though we’re still waiting. This week, he told me his team is “no longer supporting Trump Mobile.” He did not know if the company had retained a new PR firm to replace Poplar.

Perhaps with the phone launching now, the company doesn’t think it needs to be presented with more press. Of course, the extent of this launch is still unclear: a handful of media have the phone, and at least a few people are on it.
